Tips for Effective Pet Hair Removal

In addition to choosing the right vacuum cleaner and attachments, here are some tips for more effective pet hair removal:

1. Regular Vacuuming

Make vacuuming a part of your regular cleaning routine, especially in high-traffic areas and your pet’s favorite spots. You can save those tight spaces and hard-to-reach corners for the deep cleaning days. Some dogs are afraid of the loud noises that vacuums can sometimes make. Others love chasing them around. As a pet owner, be mindful of your dog’s comfort level, and be sure to read the reviews for your vacuum to think through how it is quiet or loud compared to others.

2. Groom Your Pet

Regular grooming can significantly reduce the amount of loose hair your dog sheds. Brush your dog outside to prevent hair from settling indoors with a good deshedding tool. If anyone in your home has health issues with dandruff or just pet hair, it’s good to be on a grooming schedule. Your dog will also appreciate being clean and fresh!

3. Wash Pet Bedding and Linens

Wash your pet’s bedding, blankets, and any fabric they come into contact with regularly to prevent hair buildup. This was always a hard one for me. I mean who enjoys cleaning their coach every darn week?! The best thing to do is to pick a time each month to just get everything into the wash and make it a habit.

4. Use Pet-Friendly Furniture Covers

Invest in furniture covers or throws designed for pet owners. These can be easily removed and washed, preventing pet hair from becoming embedded in your furniture. We tend to throw blankets down on the furniture, especially if it’s a rainy day.

5. Consider Air Purifiers

Using an air purifier with HEPA filters can help remove pet dander and allergens, improving indoor air quality.

Summary

Dog ownership comes with its fair share of challenges, and dealing with pet hair is one of them. However, with the right dog vacuum cleaner and vacuum attachments, you can keep your home clean and comfortable for both you and your furry companion. Remember to consider the type of vacuum, vacuum noise, its suction power, its filtration system, and, most importantly, the attachments when making your decision. Think through your household’s specific needs and go from there. I always preferred a long extension hose with our vacuums because I hate unplugging and plugging vacuums in and out when I’m moving around. Armed with the right tools and knowledge, you can enjoy a clean and hair-free home while still relishing the joy of having your four-legged friend by your side.
